2010 Canine and Wine Walk
May 8th

In 2009 we raised almost $3000 that went directly to the rescue dogs.
We learned a lot and have many new ideas to make it even better in 2010.
Bring your pooch and come along for a walk through the vineyards. Stop at selected wineries and sample Yakima Valley wines while your canine companion enjoys fresh water and yummy treats. Join us for all or part of the estimated 3 ½ miles. Maps will be available and route will be clearly marked.
Cost: $10 minimum donation, includes chance to win a bottle of wine at each winery. An additional donation will get you a lunch of corn dogs, chili dogs and hot dogs at Cultura Winery.
Grape fun for people and puppies alike, with all proceeds going to rescue dogs. Please join us to help us help the dogs.

Cowgirl Getaway
Sept 10, 11 & 12
"A wild weekend of wining, dining and riding"

Cherry Wood is excited to once again offer our women’s wine and horse retreats.
This year you’ll be able to play with cows in Cherry Wood’s new arena, then get out and ride in the vineyard county, through water crossings and over trail obstacles. And of course we’ll stop for tastings at the wineries, where you can pick up something to sip around the evening campfire.
Wrangler and teacher, Tiffany Fewel, will offer her insights on movement and body awareness, to deepen the connection between horse and woman. Eastern Oregon buckaroo, Patti Hudson, will share knowledge gained working as a day rider for the last 25 years. Other experts will also be on hand from time to time, but at Cherry Wood we’ve come to understand that all our participants are teachers and that’s what our retreats are really about – learning from each other.
Bring your own horse or get to know one of ours. Either way, grab your hat and come have fun being a cowgirl with us!
The schedule is very flexible, but plan to arrive Friday afternoon and settle in your shared teepee. Join us for roasted sausages, salad and beer around the campfire. Saturday morning awake to a full Cherry Wood breakfast followed by a group Feldenkrais session to get you ready to connect with your horse. Morning horse activities will take place in the arena and in the afternoon we'll hit the wine trail for more fun and a light lunch at one of our nearby wineries. Return to Cherry Wood to rest up for dinner and more campfire comradery. Sunday morning enjoy another great Cherry Wood breakfast with your fellow cowgirls before saying “Happy Trails.”
$475 includes two night's stay, meals and all the activities on your own horse.
No charge for horse board, if you bring your own feed and buckets.
Rental fee to ride one of our seasoned mounts is an additional $100 for the entire event.

Joe Wolter Horsemanship 2010 Clinic
Joe enjoying a horseback wine ride to Cultura Winery during his 2009 Cherry Wood Clinic
Cherry Wood is pleased to announce that Joe Wolter will be joining us again this year to share more of his wisdom.
Joe's kind and subtle approach gave last year’s riders new tools upon which to build a stronger bond with their horses. While mornings were spent in the arena, one of the great things about Cherry Wood is being able to get out and ride through the countryside. And of course, that means a stop or two at a winery. Who said learning can’t be fun?
Whether it was knowledge gained in the saddle or insights gleaned around the evening campfire, riders of all levels came away from the experience with new abilities and fresh perspectives on the horse/human relationship.
Join us again this year when Joe will offer both horsemanship and cow working classes. Clinic costs: Horsemanship: $400
Cow Working: $400 (plus cattle fee)
Spectators: $25/day
Clinic participants may camp or stay in their own trailers at no charge. Bring your own hay, water buckets and manure forks, and horses stay free too. Teepees are available at a reduced rate (no meals), but space is limited, so book early. Contact us for more information on the clinic and accommodations.
